Green Spring Church Adult Programs

Don Evans, Church Elder and adult sunday school teacher, uses a picture of ancient Jewish artifacts, showing the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans in 70 A.D.  This particular lesson lead into a study of the Book of Revelations.  Students in Don's class keep up a lively dialog, often challenging teacher and fellow students alike.  The format of Don's class would best be described as a planned lesson, with open discussion being encouraged.  Don holds a PhD from Tennessee Tech (in Engineering), and is an avid student of biblical thought and history of the ancient world.  Other students in the class include lawyers, engineers, teachers, nurses, professionals, and nonprofessionals alike.

The Passing of the Peace
(a time honored tradition)

Members of the congregation greet one another during the passing of the peace during worship services on Sunday morning.

Circles of the Presbyterian Women

Circle"height=325
The Presbyterian Women (PW) is a churchwide organization whose membership is open to all women. The members are women who choose to participate in or be supportive of the organization in any way. PW gives strong support to the mission of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and determines its own leadership, program, and budget.

The Presbyterian Women Organization is organized at all levels of the PC(USA) in congregations, presbyteries, and synods as well as General Assembly. The connectional system allows ideas and information to continually flow back and forth to strengthen the work of Presbyterian Women and the Ministry of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The Presbyterian Women Organization is set up in "Circles" for fellowship, Bible Study, service and spiritual growth. Each Circle elects a Bible Moderator, and participates in denomination-wide projects such as White Cross, the "Birthday Offering," and Christmas gifts, decorations, and food for one or more needy families. Presbyterian Women handle the Food Committee which responds, as needed, to provide food in times of death, surgery, or birth to members. At this time, there are two Circles. All women are encouraged to participate in one of the Circles; friends and visitors are invited.
